Often, the homeowner presents a fluid idea of whole home control and automation that can be reshaped and molded as the project progresses. Success depends heavily on the experience and skill of the designer, installer, integrator and programmer. In this particular case, however, a young and prosperous broadcast industry executive incorporated his extensive knowledge of today's modern media with a precise vision of residential technology bliss. The outcome: A home filled with an impressive range of multimedia features, a unique interior decoration deeply influenced by African cultural styles and artwork, and a remodeled exterior and interior architecture meant to cater to the needs of a "growing" family. Convenience, simplicity, security and safety, as well as luxury of the utmost importance.

Perfect Timing

What began as an ambitious blueprint predicated upon the entire revamping of the home quickly shifted into a deadline-crucial installation that not only had to meet the demanding standards and ideals of the homeowner but also be finalized and ready-to-use before his pregnant wife gave birth — to triplets! In an effort to remain ahead of schedule, Grupo Systems, S.A. de C.V., an AMX® Dealer located in Mexico City, collaborated with a team of AMX programmers from Avenida Network, based in Dallas, Texas, to complete the complex control system, as well as the novel AMX Touch Panel page designs.

"Our client's remodeled villa needed to be welcomed into the new century with complete integration and central control of an array of residential technologies," said Arturo Escobar Ibarra of Grupo Systems, S.A. de C.V.

The homeowner and his family opened the doors to the latest AMX control. The kind of industry-leading technology engineered to provide the power to control any integrated device, the simplicity of one-touch automation, and the appeal of an unobtrusive overall design. The press of a button instantly activates a specific function or a sequence of events, including audio/video distribution, home theater components, lighting, security cameras, intercoms, telephones, baby cams and heating/air conditioning units. AMX Touch Panels and Keypads, positioned in strategic areas throughout the home, make the surrounding electronics appear seamless in operation, effortless to use and, most of all, pleasantly transparent.

"The family desired this transparency," said Escobar. "They wanted to blend the technology with the creative aspects of their home environment."

Touch Panel Bliss

The 21st Century home should exemplify convenience, creating a lifestyle that is less stressful and more enjoyable. To add further convenience throughout the household, Grupo Systems, S.A. de C.V. thoughtfully installed 12 AMX Dynamic Menu System (DMS) Keypads at the entrance of different rooms. These keypads, which are approximately the same size as a switch plate, have external navigation push buttons and a bright LCD display for scrolling and reading information easily and quickly. Step into a room, press a button to turn on the lights, check room temperature, and search a customized CD playlist.

In the master bedroom, family room and home theater, Grupo Systems, S.A. de C.V. opted for larger AMX 10.4" Touch Panels. These Table Top panels rest nicely on an end table or coffee table, offering a unique tilting feature for achieving the best possible viewing angle. Upstairs, a wireless AMX ViewPoint® Touch Panel delivers anywhere, anytime control. The homeowner can walk from room to room — watching a movie in the TV Room one moment, and then working out to high-energy music in the personal gym the next.

Cinematic Extravagance

An uncompromising feature of the home, and rightly so, is the standard of audio/video excellence placed on the home theater, which rivals the intense sights and sounds of any multiplex.

"The entire home theater experience has been an incredible source of satisfaction for the owner," said Escobar.

Imagine complete darkness. Suddenly, a flash of light abruptly ends the stillness. A roar of audio charges your senses. Introducing a "home cinema" experience intensified through spirited African influences and brought to life through detailed planning by Grupo Systems, S.A. de C.V., the architect, electrical and HVAC contractors, system software developers and, of course, the discriminating homeowner.
